A Message From Our Principal
Welcome to Forest Hills School, Saint John, New Brunswick. We are a community school, providing education for grades Kindergarten through Eight. Our school population is close to 850 students.
Our staff consists of 75 plus dedicated individuals who provide a safe learning environment for residents of this Port City's East side.
At Forest Hills School, our mission is based on our collective belief that "all students have the potential to learn". As a staff, we are working towards developing a new School Improvement Plan which will reflect the continued need to provide a wide variety of opportunities for students to grow as learners. We are also committed to supporting students as individuals, taking in to consideration that each of our students is unique.
As educators, we believe that we also are life long learners and have a responsibility to continue and model professional and personal growth. Our staff meetings begin with a "Learning Focus" where we contemplate topics relevant to our instructional practice.
We have also identified communication with parents as a vital part of a successful school. We invite our parent partners to feel confidence in initiating contact with us as we attempt to be more purposeful in our communication with them.
At Forest Hills School, we work in teams. It is our belief that working collaboratively will lead to more creative solutions in addressing the needs of our children.
As for our students, we hold high expectations for them as we invite them to be partners in their education. Each student has a "job" to do at school which requires basically two things. First, students are expected to come to school ready to learn. Second, students are expected to come to school ready to keep themselves and those around them safe. "Safety" and "learning" are the school's two greatest priorities, with "safety" referring to physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
At Forest Hills School, we are privileged to be partners with the community and families of our students. As principal, I am pleased to be a lead facilitator in this journey. We invite you to continue this work with us, side by side.
Ms. T. Whitney
Principal
